Terms of Service
Last updated: May 8, 2026
1. Acceptance
By downloading or using Sieve ("the App"), you agree to these Terms of Service. If you do not agree, do not use the App.
2. Description
Sieve is a local developer security tool for macOS that scans AI chat history and project files for accidentally exposed secrets such as API keys, tokens, and passwords. All scanning runs entirely on your device. No data is transmitted to any server.
3. License
Sieve is provided under a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable license to use the App on Apple-branded devices you own or control, subject to the Apple Media Services Terms and Conditions. You may not copy, modify, reverse-engineer, or distribute the App except as permitted by applicable law.
4. Your Responsibilities
- You are responsible for any actions you take based on findings reported by Sieve.
- Sieve provides detection and redaction assistance — it does not guarantee complete detection of all secrets or that redaction makes files permanently safe.
- You are responsible for rotating any exposed credentials Sieve identifies.
- Do not use Sieve to scan files or directories you do not have permission to access.
5. No Warranty
Sieve is provided "as is" without warranty of any kind, express or implied, including warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, or non-infringement. Detection rules may not catch every secret. Redaction operations modify local files — always maintain your own backups.
6. Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, the developer of Sieve shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from your use of the App, including but not limited to data loss, credential exposure, or security incidents, even if advised of the possibility of such damages.
7. Privacy
Your use of Sieve is also governed by the Privacy Policy, which is incorporated into these Terms by reference.
8. Changes
These Terms may be updated from time to time. Continued use of the App after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms. Material changes will be noted by updating the "Last updated" date above.
9. Governing Law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of California, without regard to conflict of law principles.
